ECSTATIC DANCE

Some movement stories aren’t choreographed.

They aren’t counted, corrected, or performed.

They are felt.

Ecstatic Dance is a freeform movement experience where music guides the body and self-expression leads the way. There are no steps to memorize and no expectations to meet—only an invitation to move exactly as you are, exactly where you are.

What Is Ecstatic Dance?

Ecstatic Dance is a guided dance journey set to a curated, intentional music arc that builds, releases, and restores. Participants move freely, often barefoot, allowing emotion, intuition, and rhythm to shape their movement.

There is:

  • No choreography

  • No talking on the dance floor

  • No judgment or pressure to perform

Instead, there is space—to explore, release, ground, and connect.

Why Ecstatic Dance?

People come to Ecstatic Dance for many reasons:

  • Stress release and emotional processing

  • Creative exploration and embodiment

  • Nervous system regulation and mindfulness

  • Community connection through shared movement

  • To engage with a sober community

Each session becomes a personal movement story—sometimes playful, sometimes powerful, sometimes deeply still.

What to Expect:

  • A welcoming, inclusive environment

  • A brief opening to set intention and safety

  • A flowing music journey that encourages natural expression

  • Time to integrate and ground before closing

You don’t need dance experience.

You don’t need to “know how to move.”

You just need curiosity and a willingness to listen to your body.

Come As You Are. Ecstatic Dance at UMAC is for every body, every background, and every story. Whether your movement story is about healing, joy, release, or rediscovery—this is a space to let it unfold.
